Helping businesses
prepare for and
recover from disaster

Business Continuity - Resilience

The GEDP manages an active Task Force dedicated to Business Preparedness, Response and Recovery.  Through the years, Galveston has shown that businesses who were more prepared for a natural disaster responded and recovered much quicker than others.  Disaster preparedness effectively mitigates against financial loss and hardships.

  • Prepare

Hurricane Season begins on June 1st and runs through September 30th. Planning before storm season is essential for businesses in proactively mitigating negative impacts and planning for the recovery of their business and their employees.

To get started, please review the GEDP Business Recovery Guide and explore the various links contained within this website.

  • Respond

When a catastrophic event or natural disaster is forecast for our area, this page will be updated to provide the latest information and status information that is available.

A new tool of the GEDP is the Verity Economic Impact Portal that has been developed for tracking – in real – the impacts and financial climate of the Galveston Business Community. Learn more about this tool by clicking the link below.

  • Recover

After an event, this page will be updated with resources/information as it is developed for disaster recovery – for the business community. Each event is different and different resources are developed based on the severity and impact of specific events.

Prior resources/agencies that have been utilized for recovering from events can be found in the resources section of this site.
